Water Pump Installation in KL & Selangor
AI illustration
Installing a booster water pump costs about RM200–500 in labour, depending on whether new piping, a pressure tank or an electrical point is needed. The pump itself usually costs RM300–1,500 depending on brand and size.
Signs you need this
- Weak pressure on upper floors or showers
- Pump runs non-stop or cycles on and off
- Noisy or vibrating pump
- No water when the tank still has water
What the plumber does
- Measure flow and pressure at the outlets
- Recommend a pump sized to your home and tank
- Draw from the storage tank, never directly from the Air Selangor pipe (SPAN Rules 2014, r.45)
- Install with isolation valves, a check valve and dry-run protection
- Set the pressure switch and test every bathroom

Questions people ask us
Do I need a pump or is the problem my pipes?
If pressure is low everywhere, it may be the supply or a blocked filter. If it is low only upstairs, a booster pump usually fixes it. A plumber can test before you buy.
Can a pump be installed in a condo?
Most condos do not allow pumps on the main line. A booster is only possible with written approval from management, and never on the incoming main.
How often should a pump be serviced?
Once a year: check the pressure switch, seals and pressure tank charge.
